Onno Paymans (1967) holds a master degree in business economics from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam and completed several post-doctoral marketing studies at the University of Groningen. In 1995, Onno joined the Rotterdam based Bloemers Nassau Group and became a Managing Director of that firm in 2002. As one of only two Managing Directors, Onno carried co-responsibility for managing the company’s diversified and substantial investment portfolio.

 

Next to his responsibilities at Bloemers, Onno became a board member of both the Group’s  insurance companies until his retirement in 2011. In that same year, the Bloemers Nassau Group got acquired by the German insurer HDI Gerling and Onno became a member of its executive board until he left to become the Managing Director at Meijers Assurantiën in Amstelveen in 2012.

 

Meijers is one of the top 10 independent chartered insurance brokers in the Netherlands and part of a worldwide network (WBN) of independent risk management consultants and insurance brokers.

 

In 2019 Onno retired from Meijers to become an angel investor and an independent advisor to a number of private equity funds. Onno currently serves on the Board of a number of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, regulated by the Dutch Central Bank and the Dutch AFM. Onno has been a member of the Board of the LSP Life Sciences Fund since 2012 and became its Chairman in 2020.
